Production notes

Progress has been swift this week and we’re definitely on the downhill leg of our journey in making Paradise Lost in Second Life.

Behind the Scenes

The Pharaoh of Egypt, played by

The Pharaoh of Egypt, played by Ellen Cordeaux

We completed four new sets this week:

  1. Adam and Eve’s winter hovel. The site of Adam and Eve’s post-expulsion life where they must work hard just to survive.
  2. Noah’s Ark. Set in what is now present day Armenia, where Noah is first instructed to save the lives of the animals before the impending flood.
  3. Pharaoh’s Palace. This is where the baby Moses is discovered, where he grows into a man, and liberates the Israelite slaves from Egypt.
  4. The Nativity Scene. Yep, that old Christmas Card favourite is now on our prep stage, just waiting to be inhabited by you-know-who and you-know-who’s parents.

There is a whole lot more to come in the last two scenes (Agnus Dei and Lux Aeterna)! Stay tuned!

In other news, Harvey has written two posts from a behind the scenes perspective, one comparing the challenges and engagement required by Paradise Lost to a start-up company, and one about thinking outside the box to solve and going back to fundamentals some pretty complex technical problems.

The Son of God and Archangel Michael, by Harper Beresford

This week too, Harper Beresford, blogger behind the very popular and high quality fashion blog, A Passion for Virtual Fashion, wrote a detailed preview of Paradise Lost, including some terrific photos from the set and of characters not yet in the spotlight.

And, we’d also like to thank Daniel Voyager, Alexa Maravilla, and Inara Pey for sharing the latest news to come out of the production this and last week.

Trailer Playlist

Now that we have 4 of 7 trailers, we thought it be cool to create a playlist that has them all, for easier sharing (hint, hint!). And here is the playlist that we’ll be adding to with more videos as we create them:

After 35 shows in roughly nine months, and in front of a full and very enthusiastic crowd, we said goodbye to what the entire cast consider to be their very best experience in Second Life so far. Having now said goodbye too many times to count, we thought we’d leave you with this lovely image of one of our talented performers: Syn Wytchwood, who played Juliet in the balcony and bedroom scenes, as well as Mercutio.

The Romeo + Juliet in Second Life Experience

More news when we have it 🙂 We have things planned out and will get to work on it as soon as Paradise Lost premiers.

And last, but definitely not least…

Mr. Neddings shoots Romeo + Juliet

We’ve got some wonderful fans, and a particular stand out from the crowd is certainly Mr. Neddings. Not only has he attended countless performances, brought loads and loads of friends by, retweeted us like crazy, he’s even filmed the entire play from four camera angles which we’ll be editing into a full length film. Here are some photos Mr. Nedding’s captured from Romeo and Juliet.
